Growing consumer awareness
Cosumers are becoming more aware of the very real impacts of climate change and the social impact of clothing production on communities around the world, they’re seeking out a more sustainable way of life. Brands and retailers have strategies around responsible cotton, polyester and viscose, but having trouble to find better materials as alternatives to acrylic and wool.
The Movement addresses this market need for sustainable knitting fiber by developing Polylana® Fibers which sets a new industry standard in sustainability based on two pillars: the use of lower impact materials (significantly lower impact than acrylic and wool) and full supply chain transparency by identifying Polylana® fibers in the final product.
Polylana® Fibers: Significally lower impact than acrylic
Where sustainability is a strategy, impact results are the real goal. Eco-efficiency for us means executing an efficient business while at the same time protecting our environment. Polylana® Fibers uses 76% less energy, 85% less water and releases 92% less CO2 emission during production compared to acrylic fiber production.
Polylana® Fibers reduces energy emission during the dyeing process compared to 100% recycled polyester, since Polylana® fibers can be dyed at low temperatures. While 100% recycled polyester must be dyed at a high temperature.
Polylana® Fibers: 100% Traceable
With Polylana® Fibers, The Movement launches one of the most eco-efficient knitting fibers. Using the AWARE™ integrity solution enables us to identify Polylana® Fibers in the final product, long after the textile processing and conversion steps. Thus, retailers and brands are fully assured that they are indeed incorporating the eco-efficient, and not a generic market material.
“With this special identification technology for Polylana® Fibers, we are supporting the trend in the fashion industry towards greater transparency. "It is becoming increasingly important to know where final products have been made of, to be able to validate claims avoiding greenwashing,” Tatiana Ponce, Brand Development Manager, explains. "If Polylana® is on the outside, Polylana® is also in the inside."
